First of all, we are wine lovers.

Our Story

Great wines start in the field, that’s what Kathleen always said. In 2005, Derek and Kathleen followed their dream of moving to a wine valley in France, choosing Château Plaisance as their new home. They understood intuitively how important it was to work with the vines and in complete harmony with nature. In 2017, Derek’s son Tony and his family joined our Bordeaux winery, and although we lost Kathleen in 2018, not a day goes by when we don’t remember her words of wisdom.

Our ingredients

With every sip, the elegant wines created in Château Plaisance express our love for the land, passion for the grapes, and dedication to the finest details in winemaking. They are the patience of hot summer days waiting for the delicate bunches to plump and redden, the nerves as we wait to harvest right at the last moment to capture that distinctive flavor, and our constant quest for excellence. They are the harmony of living with, and not against, the natural environment.

Our history

Château Plaisance was built in 1881 in the heart of the Saint-Emilion appellation, and was the residence of the Dubois family until 1997. With a wide frontage, it has splendid views of the vineyard which carpets the surrounding 19 hectares. We arrived here in 2005, and since then we have enjoyed our role as part of this charming village, becoming part of its rich heritage and cultural traditions, and honoring the history of Bordeaux wine with our Grand Cru vintages.
